Happy Veteran’s Day, we at the Swamp Cabbage Festival take this moment to reflect on the courage and sacrifices of the men and women who have served our country. Each year at our festival, we proudly honor a veteran during our opening ceremonies with a special flag-folding ceremony, paying tribute to their service and dedication. It’s our way of celebrating those who have contributed so much to protect the freedoms and values we cherish.
In past years, we’ve had the privilege of honoring esteemed local veterans such as Shawn Reed, Myra Johnson, and Dave Reinbott. Their commitment to our nation has left a lasting impact not only on those who served alongside them but also on our community here in LaBelle. Through their stories, we are reminded of the bravery and resilience that defines our veterans and the sacrifices they have made.
This tradition is more than a ceremony; it’s a reminder of the selflessness of our military members and the importance of remembering their contributions. We look forward to continuing this tribute at the upcoming festival, where our community can come together in gratitude and respect.
We encourage everyone to find ways to stay engaged with the veteran community, whether through volunteer work, donations, or simply sharing their stories. By educating future generations about the importance of honoring our service members, we ensure that their sacrifices and legacy live on.
As we look forward to the next festival, we extend our deepest gratitude to all veterans—past and present. Your dedication, courage, and commitment are an inspiration to us all. From the Swamp Cabbage Festival family to yours, thank you for your service.
